Usage Information

Piozone may be taken with or without food. It is important to follow special meal plan as suggested by your doctor and remember to use it at the same time(s) each day. In addition, exercise regularly and monitor blood glucose levels on a regular basis

Dosage

Adults: Initially, the dose is 15 or 30 mg once daily with or without meals. However, your doctor may later increase dose up to 45 mg once daily. Children: As determined by the doctor.

Interactions

This medicine may decrease the effects of some birth control pills. Also, use of Ketoconazole may decrease the effect of Piozone.

Side Effects

Common side effects are chest pain; decreased urine output; dilated neck veins; extreme fatigue; irregular breathing; irregular heartbeat; problems with teeth; shortness of breath; swelling of face, fingers, feet, or lower legs; tightness in chest; troubled breathing; weight gain; wheezing etc. If any of these effects persist or worsen, immediately consult your doctor.

Before starting this medicine, tell your doctor if you are allergic to it or to other glitazones. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience abdominal or stomach pain, dark urine, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting, unusual tiredness or weakness, or yellow eyes or skin.
